My father in law picked up a couple of Bellsouth 1022 radios the other
day but needs a manual. From what I can tell they must be about seven
years old now. I would appreciate it if anyone with a copy of the
manual could share. Thank you, Radio Guy

I have some Bell South Radios at home that I picked up about 6 years
ago. It may be the same model, and I will check the manual. If it is
the same, you can have a copy free.

One thing your Dad-in-law may want to know about this particular brand
- the microphone is super-sensitive, so much so that you need to hold
the radio at arm's length in order for the person on the other end to
understand you, or else talk very softly at about a foot away.
Otherwise, the speech is highly distorted. This is not a terrible
problem in itself, but it also means that the microphone will readily
pick up all sorts of background noise. Passing cars, trains, and
especially wind raise havoc with the transmissions. These are best
for use in a quiet area, such as your living room; for noisier
environments, another brand would be better.

I have a pair of Radio Shack GMRS radios (obtained on sale) that can
be used at lower FRS power, which do not have this problem -
transmissions are crisp and clear. Most other radio brands (Motorola,
Cobra, Midland, Kenwood, Icom, etc) will also provide basic good
sound.

I just checked the Internet for Bellsouth 1022; this is not the same
as the ones I have. I am sorry! Unfortunately, the menus for
changing specific functions on these radios are often nested, and not
always intuitive.
