People have said the FCC made a mistake and didn't know what they were
doing when they created FRS right exactly on GMRS frequencies and
rigjht in the middle of GMRS frequencies.
Wrong!! It wasn't a maistake. Which I will shortly prove.
People said the FCC made a mistake and didn't know what they were
doing by never trying to move the 27 mhz CB channels to UHF when 27
mhz got so bad.
Wrong! Back in the late 70's/early 80's when 27 mhz CB was it's worst,
the FCC DID try to move it to the UHF band by attempting to create the
Consumer Radio Service on or near the Class A CB/GMRS frequencies
hoping all new CBers would use those channels thereby limiting CB lids
to local areas no matter how much power they tried to use instead of
the lids being heard worldwide where the FCC gets complaints about
U.S. lids from the rest of the world.
But PRSG fought it all the way, and fortunately was sucessful enough
at winning their case to keep the lids transmitting worldwide on 27
mhz for many more decades instead of allowing the FCC to create a
service that most new cbers would flock to which would limit most of
the lids transmissions to only their local area.
If most people had moved to the new consumer radio service (which
never came into being at that time), the lids wouldn't have had anyone
to annoy on 27 mhz CB since everyone else would have moved to the uhf
"consumer radio service" to avoid the lids. Since that's where the
majority of the activity would then be, the lids would follow to the
uhf consumer radio service in order to annoy as many people as
possible.
Now, the rest of the world doesn't hate that the U.S. has 27 mhz CB.
They just hate the lids on it, as do most of the U.S. cbers.
So for all the rest of the world who hated hearing U.S. lids on 27 mhz
for decades, you have PRSG to thank for it.
I know that even the MURS users hate both Corwin Moore and PRSG.
The currrent FRS IS the Consumer Radio Service, (which PRSG also
fought against and partially lost this time), just under a different
name and about twenty years later than it should have been thanks to
PRSG.
Since the introduction of FRS, I now hear ONLY ONE lid on 27 mhz CB in
my area.
Because the majority of the public has currently fled to FRS to avoid
the 27 mhz lids.
And since FRS is now where most of the people are, the lids followed.
Except on UHF, they can't be heard out of their local area no matter
how much power they attempt to run.
And if they atttempt to run too much power on UHF, it will be a self-
correcting problem in one way or another.
So for everyone in the whole world who hated having all those lids on
27 mhz CB for decades, you all have PRSG to thank for it.
Otherwise the lids would have moved to UHF CB long ago.
All you have to do is look at today's FRS to see that that is true.
They usually flock to where they hear the most people.
That's obviously why the one lid in my area who still has only a CB
has chosen channel 19, the truckers' channel. to promote his liddiness
on.
Even MURS users hate both Corwin Moore and PRSG.
And for good reason, but that's a subject for another post.
