Yes, a lot of people recieved interference from cb radios on their tv
sets in the 70s and 80s.

However, despite what was said recently, the majority of these were
NOT caused by CB radios operating with illegal power.

The majority of interference was on tv channel 5 and caused by legal
power CB radios.

Cable tv did not exist in most areas yet. Cale tv was not even
available here until the middle of 1989.

People used OTA TV antennas back then.

Check the first, second, and third harmonics of 27.185 mhz (CB channel
19)

And check the frequency of tv channel 5.

THAT was the cause of most CB interference to tv sets back then.

It was NOT the CB operators' faults.

Yep, I went thru this myself. I was getting complaints from neighbors,
even though we had cable at the time. A cheap low pass filter from
Lafayette (remember them?) fixed it.

Good approach but not guaranteed to cure it. It's nice that people with an
antenna near their home are identified as CBer's though..10-4 qsk.

(mind the obvious cross posted bait and happy new year anyway)

Absolutely true. I sat in my driveway one evening talking to my CB
girlfriend, while my wife and mom were inside watching channel 5. There was
hell to pay when I went inside.

54 MHz is channel 2, which gets the most interference from multiple
offenders.

The reason we never noticed that is because there wern't any tv
stations on channel 2 here back then.

My problem was not inteferring with TV, but rather interfer with
stereos and public address systems.  Sitting in the apartment parking
lot and talking on my CB, a neighbor came out of his apartment and
told me everything I had said.  He said I was coming in loud and clear
on his stereo.  I also noticed while near fast-food restaurants that
had outside windows with a P.A. system, I would come over their P.A.
systems loud and clear.  I used to have fun advertising FREE
hamburgers over their P.A. systems.  People would run and line up for
those free burgers!
ROTFL - oaoa ~ RHF

Better would be to roll over to the McDonalds and
blast it out for Free Hamburgers at Jack-in-the-Box.
